Why can there be a problem with erection?

Perhaps, this question worries every man, especially if it’s about men over 40. Many factors can adversely affect the potency. Let’s consider them in more detail.

Impotence is a violation of erection, in which the hardness and straightness of the penis of a man is not sufficient to complete sexual intercourse. At present, this term is practically not used, and the term “erectile dysfunction” is used instead. Violation of the erection significantly interferes with the normal course of life, leads to the emergence of serious psychological problems. In some cases, impotence is combined with infertility, inflammatory processes in the genitourinary organs and other diseases.

There are two variants of erectile dysfunction in men:

  • Psychogenic, arising under the influence of various stressful situations.
  • Organic, developing against the background of diseases of internal organs.

Psychological factors

Causes of psychological erectile dysfunction: psychological trauma received in childhood or adolescence, negative sexual experience or lack of it, problems with the partner, fear of contacting, STDs.

The causes of sexual dysfunction are not always directly related to the partner. Violation of potency leads to conflicts at work, financial problems, complicated relationships with friends and relatives. In young fathers who take part in the care of a child, erectile dysfunction arises against a background of lack of sleep and general fatigue.

Organic factors

Organic causes: endocrine system diseases (testosterone level decrease or prolactin increase) vascular disorders (diseases of the cardiovascular system, including hypertension and atherosclerosis) infectious diseases of the genitals neurological disorders (spine diseases, etc.) drinking alcohol, smoking, sedentary lifestyle, sedentary work, long-term use of certain medications (antidepressants, neuroleptics, etc.).

Erectile dysfunction in men is not associated with age, but depends only on accumulated problems in the body. Chronic diseases that occurred at a young age lead to impotence and the occurrence of serious psychological problems. Increasingly, men under the age of 40 are diagnosed with hypertension, osteochondrosis, obesity and other diseases that can cause erectile dysfunction. Harmful habits and inactivity are also key risk factors for impotence.

Violation of an erection is a persistent inability of a man to perform a full sexual intercourse. Normally, a man experiences a sexual attraction to a partner, feels an erection, and after the introduction of the penis into the vagina and committing a certain number of frictions, he experiences an orgasm accompanied by ejaculation. With erectile dysfunction, one of the components of sexual intercourse is absent, which leads to the inability to live a full sexual life.

Criteria for erectile dysfunction:

  • lack of sexual desire
  • Impossibility to achieve an erection with a safe libido
  • Inability to enter the penis into the vagina with an erection
  • Impossibility to make frictions
  • Lack of orgasm.

Psychogenic and organic erectile dysfunction develops in different ways. Psychological impotence arises suddenly, makes itself felt from time to time and is always associated with some kind of stress. Night erection is preserved. The tension of the penis usually remains throughout the sexual intercourse.

Organic impotence manifests itself differently. The disease develops gradually, and over the years, the condition of a man worsens. Nocturnal erection is absent. Quite often, the erection disappears directly during sexual intercourse. During the examination, a variety of somatic diseases reveals that can cause erectile dysfunction.

Suspicion of a violation of potency can occur when such symptoms occur:

  • a man avoids intimacy by any means (refers to fatigue, illness, work)
  • a man does not act as an initiator in sex
  • a man ignores hints and frank offers.
